Most of my pieces are wheel thrown but I also create pieces by hand building with clay slabs. Once pieces have reached the leather hard stage, I carve and stamp illustrations and patterns, add sprigs, knobs, handles and other surface decorations. This is the most time consuming and enjoyable part of my process. I use a white stoneware clay. The pieces are bisque fired to cone 06 and glaze fired to cone 6 in a Skutt electric kiln. My pottery is glazed with a combination of commercial underglazes and cone 6 glazes that I purchase or mix in the studio. All serving pieces are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe.
