I explore my love of color and illustration with fine line inlay techniques. Layers of colored slips and underglaze are applied to the leather hard clay followed by a layer of wax resist. Once the wax dries I carve the lines through the wax and inlay a dark color of underglaze in to the carved lines. The underglaze only sticks where the wax has been carved away. Clear glaze is applied over all during the final glaze firing. This photo gallery shows examples of recent Pigeon Road Pottery pieces that focus on this technique. While these specific pieces are no longer available for purchase, similar items may be commissioned by contacting me at [email protected]. Click on any image to enlarge the photo.
