Most of my pieces are wheel thrown. I throw a table full of pots at one time. Once they have reached the leather hard stage, I trim, carve, stamp, add sprigs, knobs, handles and/or otherwise alter the forms. This is the most time consuming and enjoyable part of my process. I use a white stoneware clay called B-Mix 5 from Laguna Clay Company. The pieces are bisque fired to cone 06 and glaze fired to cone 6 in a Skutt electric kiln. My pottery is glazed with a combination of commercial underglazes and cone 6 glazes that I mix in the studio. All serving pieces are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe.
